Raised in a boating family in Newport Beach, California, Dave has been sailing and boating since his parents first pushed him off the beach in his Naples Sabot at age six. Since then, he has been a competitive sailor and boating enthusiast for more than 40 years.

Dave’s sailing accomplishments include multiple PHRF Championships on both coasts as helmsman and tactician, Etchell’s fleet championships on both coasts as tactician, as well as 10 Transpacs and Pacific Cups and more than 20 long-distance races to various ports in Mexico.

He sails frequently as tactician on a Mexican and a S. California Farr 40, manages and does tactics on a TP52 for a Mexican owner, and drives and does tactics on an RP 50 in San Diego. Dave is also active in both the Viper Fleet and F18's from time to time. While Dave has raced sailboats most of his life, he didn’t begin working in the marine industry full-time until he landed the sales and marketing manager position with the world’s premiere sailboat design house, Farr Yacht Design.

After a time there, he moved back to the West Coast and became the general manager for the world’s third-largest Sea Ray dealer in Newport Beach, Newport Boats. They were also the Meridian, Atlantis, Polar Fishing Boats, and Azimut dealership. Dave distinguished himself by running their most profitable store and maintaining a CSI score of a perfect 10 for the last 14 months of his employment.

The downturn of 2009 ended his tenure there, as most of the staff was laid off. He ultimately moved to another local broker, Long Beach Yacht Sales, and quickly became the company’s top salesman. Dave was also awarded Salesperson of the Year in 2010 for dollar volume and was second in units sold. Toward the end of 2011, Dave joined the Denison Yachting team in our Marina del Rey, California location, where he has quickly added many quality listings around the US and the world.

In 2012, he opened the Newport Beach, California office for Denison Yachting and continued to be their top seller in the area. In 2019, he opened Denison’s second San Diego location. He now travels the world extensively selling yachts on every corner and has logged well over 350,000 miles navigating the world’s oceans. He is ready to help you realize your boating dreams, either power or sail.
