Naval Architect Jule Marshall founded Navigator Yachts in 1987; however he had been building

the highly regarded "Californian" line of yachts since the late 1960's.

A hallmark of his designs are hulls that get up on plane quickly with smaller, more economical

engines. Another feature is the 360 degree visibility from the helm which allows a couple to

operate the vessel without any other assistance; there are two ways to access the bow from the

cockpit, either along the narrow port and starboard walkways with grab rails, or going through

the salon and out through the sliding door on the starboard side of the pilothouse.

By widening the salon out to nearly the full beam, the design makes the best use of interior

space, yet still allows for a narrow walk around deck. A good compromise between practicality

and comfort.

The hull is solid fiberglass, no coring material is used in the hull. Another excellent feature of

the Navigator is the use of aluminum stringers and beams for floor support, which is much

lighter and stronger than wooden members used by most other builders. The insulation is

exceptional and affords the quietest boat ride you will ever have!

Vessel Overview

This is truly a remarkable small yacht, which offers tremendous bang for the buck. There are so many wonderful spaces to enjoy; a large salon with comfortable sofa, casual chair and bar with stools adjacent to the galley, the pilothouse dinette, or the huge flybridge. The Staterooms are spacious and comfortable and each have their own ensuite head with separate stall shower.

The navigator 48 classic is a long-running and extremely successful model from this West Coast builder. The yacht is very affordable, yet offers a great deal for a vessel her size and has proven to provide a quality smooth riding hull and efficient performance.

Although among the smaller raised pilothouse platforms at 48 feet, she accomplishes many of the benefits of this design. Excellent ease of operation from the enclosed pilothouse with 360 degree visibility and a centerline helm. Wrap around dinette seating provides an excellent view for guests in the pilothouse as well. Directly behind the helm is interior flybridge access making an easy transition to upper and lower helm stations and starboard side pilot house door allows the helmsman easy access to the foredeck when needed. Alternatively one can enjoy flybridge operation from a generous space with wet bar, refrigerator, grill and seating for the whole family.

"Pearl" offers the more popular two cabin layout with large full beam master amidship with VIP stateroom forward, both with island double berths. Each stateroom has private head compartment with separate stall shower.

The interior of the yacht is finished in high gloss cherry woodwork, wall-to-wall carpet or cherry hardwood flooring, quality vinyl headliner, and warm window treatments with wood blinds. The boat has a workable foredeck and side decks, nearly full beam superstructure amidship and good size cockpit for line handling aft. Engine room access is via a large hatch in the cockpit sole, accessing a generous lazarette storage and systems area which leads forward to the spacious engine room. The fuel tanks are mounted aft of the engines which affords excellent access to the outboard sides of the engines.

The flybridge is designed to accommodate a davit and tender aft of the seating area and "Pearl" has a 10'6" AB RIB with 20hp Yamaha. Deployment is quick and convenient.

Equipped with the larger 370 hp Volvo diesels the boat cruises efficiently in the mid-to upper teens with a top speed just over 20 kn.
