Description

This Beneteau 411, is a recent arrival in the North East, having sailed here from Florida.

She is currently laid up in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, where her bottom paint was recently soda-blasted for its removal and fresh barrier coat, with antifouling applied.

These boats are designed for ease of use and are exceptional coastal passage-makers, with all control lines led aft into the protected cockpit. The headsail is roller reefing, while the main is traditional slab, unlike many similar boats which came with the additional complexity and convenience of in mast furling.

The deck stepped mast is surrounded, on the forward face, by a stainless steel pulpit to add a degree of reassurance when in the process of reefing or hoisting the mainsail.

The generous sized cockpit means that it will unlikely feel crowded and has a central table with fold down leaves, which offers great support when under sail and yet opens up to provide a comfortable outdoor dining area when at rest. The provision of new cockpit dodger and bimini, in 2021, will certainly encourage extended use of this area.

This particular 411 is the 3 cabin layout which comes with an ensuite head in the forward pullman style cabin with the double berth to st'brd and a low bench seat to port. The aft cabins are both double berths, with a common head/shower just forward of the cabins. The spacious interior, with ample storage, is ideally suited for cruising with a sizeable crowd, and has comfortable seating for at least 6 persons around the saloon table to st'brd. The interior's port side is entirely taken up by the galley which includes a top loading fridge, 2 burner gas hob/oven and a microwave.

Additional comforts include a Fischer Panda generator and air-conditioning units.

Recent additions to the inventory from 2021 include, Garmin 942XS Radar/Plotter, Standard Horizon DCS VHF & Antenna, handheld VHF, Viking valise life raft, halyards, dodger and bimini.

The current owners are keen to sell and welcome reasonable offers.

This Beneteau 411, is available for viewing and we look forward to scheduling your appointment.

Manufacturer Description

The Beneteau 411, designed by the renowned Groupe Finot, exemplifies a true marriage of performance and beauty.

Setting the highest standards in safety and construction, the 411 offers peace of mind. Her powerful hull is made up entirely of hand laid fiberglass and is protected by vinyl ester resin. With the bulb - fin keel, maximum stability and efficiency on all points of sail are achieved by her low center of gravity. Whether one is soloing or is with a crew of family and friends, the standard in-mast furling main or optional slab reef and roller furling genoa provide efficiency and true ease of handling. Only the highest quality hardware is installed on her well laid out deck, and the location of the genoa sheet winches (accessible and within an arm's reach of the helm) will be appreciated.

The wide walkways, handrails, double lifelines, and Beneteau's moulded non-skid deck surfaces create a strong sense of reliability. A standard three-blade prop gives the Beneteau 411 excellent manoeuvrability under power, and her large, leather-covered wheel provides precise and easy steering under sail or power. The large cockpit with teak inlaid seats is designed for maximum comfort while providing safety at sea, and the pedestal console allows ample space to install electronics. There is also a dual leaf cockpit table containing a large moulded storage area and there is plenty of space to stow gear in the large cockpit lockers. Going for a swim is easy and convenient with the extra-wide aft swim platform and ladder, walkthrough transom, and standard cockpit shower. Below, her spacious and efficient layout makes use of every nook and cranny. An abundance of natural light and ventilation floods the interior through many deck hatches, portholes, and dorade vents. The Beneteau 411's joiner work is handcrafted and cherry stained. Both the two- and three-cabin layouts have roomy companionways, large cabins, and plenty of storage throughout. All of this is accented with richly detailed and highly finished Beneteau cabinetry. Designed for entertaining or enjoying a gourmet meal, the salon table is very accommodating - seating up to six people; remove the inner leaf, and it becomes a cocktail table with plenty of room for games and snacks.

Specially designed for serious cruising, the 411 nav station provides a large chart table and ample space for installing electronics. Under the chart table settee there's an additional locker for even more storage. The deluxe forward owner's stateroom features a generous double berth and an upholstered port settee that is perfect for reading or relaxing. Additional features include a large hanging locker, shelves, and stowage under the berth; as well, there is private access to the spacious and well ventilated forward head with sink and shower unit. The galley is beautifully appointed with pressure laminate countertops, big double stainless sinks, and loads of storage. The two-compartment refrigerator - freezer has top and side access, and the two-burner propane stove with oven will accommodate every culinary need. Handcrafted lockers with cane doors, great ventilation, and plenty of workspace add to making cooking pleasurable dockside or underway.

Growing up in Malta, Alex was surrounded by the Mediterranean maritime industry. He built his first model boat at the age of 11 and hasn’t stopped playing with boats since. In no time, Alex learned to sail and had his offshore captain’s license by age 17 and his Ocean Master ticket by his mid 20's. Besides learning and developing skills as a seaman, he was also playing with engines and machinery of all types, including building and racing rally cars and old motorcycles.

With a college background in physics, applied and pure mathematics, he studied naval architecture, which culminated in being employed at Sergio Lupoli Yacht Design in Naples for 5 years, this included design and building schedules of small custom IRC racing sailboats. While this led to work on a wide variety of projects and boats, restlessness eventually led back to sea, initially as mate on an ocean-going tug, master on a research dive vessel, running a Swan for the Japanese delegation at a G7 summit, several transatlantic passages, as well as racing yachts in the Middle Sea Race and elsewhere in the Mediterranean.

More recently he was captain/engineer onboard a 30m classic motor yacht for 13 years, with an approximate 5000Nm yearly cruising schedule. Besides being responsible for the guests & crew, Alex scheduled and oversaw the extensive refit and maintenance programs required for an old classic yacht, with all the numerous little bits that go with keeping such a vessel afloat and running.

In addition to his native languages of Maltese, English, and Italian, Alex is conversant in Spanish, French, and Arabic. He and his wife sailed from Malta to the US in their 33-foot gaff cutter. They now reside in Portsmouth, and in their free time explore the US countryside on their dual sport motorcycles. He is a life member of the Royal Malta Yacht Club and past president of the Rhode Island Soaring Club, where he is a prominent participant in national model sailplane contests.

Alex is now on the team at Brewer Yacht Sales, and keen to utilize his decades of experience on behalf of clients, wishing to experience the fun and pleasure of yacht ownership.
