Description

Are you looking to buy a top-quality sailboat with a world-wide reputation that has great bright work and traditional lines and is sure to turn heads at every dock she passes? Then I would like to introduce “Vega”. A 1989 Island Packet 27 cutter rigged, stepped deck, full keel cruiser designed by Bob Johnson. Her solid fiberglass hull drafts only 3.7 feet, displaces 8,000 pounds, and a 10’5” beam makes her a very capable blue-water or bay cruising vessel that will take you anywhere you want to go safely and comfortably.

Her magnificent teak and holly flooring showcased throughout the salon that is air conditioned, smartly laid out, feels much bigger than her length. A perfect cruising boat for a couple or family with hot/cold pressure water, complete galley, nice sized head, and room to sleep six. She boasts almost 6’2” of headroom and the forward V-berth that is over 6’ long. Her aft quarter berth provides additional space for your guests. The starboard and port side settee’s provide comfortable seating for six and have precious storage behind the seatbacks while you and the crew eat or entertain around the drop-down table with fold out expansion. There is plenty of natural lighting and cool breezes let in by the several port-windows.

Her cockpit is designed to allow for single handling. Cockpit has a custom pedestal table and removable shade screens which were added to the bimini canvas in 2020.

A very capable cruiser with the ability to control all sheets and sails from the cockpit. Her rigging was replaced within the past 3 years including an in-boom main furling system that was re-rigged 2021. The roller furling for the jib make furling and unfurling and lazy jacks for the main make raising and lowering her sail much more efficient. When not under sail, her rock steady Yanmar diesel, the recently completed 1,000-hour maintenance service in 2020, ensures you can maneuver her when the wind isn’t cooperating or in tight spaces.

Many of the core systems have been rebuilt including plumbing of the 120V reverse cycle AC/Heat and raw water plumbing was redone with a proper sea strainer. The fuel system plumbing was renewed, Racor rebuilt, and fuel tank was polished in 2019, fuel systems (tank scrubbed) and fuel lines replace and repainting/barrier coating of the bottom. New head and holding tank were installed 2020 and new batteries in 2021. *The vessel is equipped with a Raytheon Autohelm, but it is currently inoperable.

If you are looking for a cruiser to spend on the water, on the hook, or hang out at the dock, you want to consider strongly doing it aboard “Vega”.

I possess a 50-ton, near coastal, Master License and grew up big-game fishing offshore of New Jersey and waterskiing the rivers of South Jersey. Additionally, I spent more than 20 years on active duty serving in all four corners of the globe before retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 2008. Whether in the market to buy or sell, let me continue serving but in a different way by asking you to put my 35+ years of boating experience to work you for!
